Findings from a recent survey of primary care and specialist physicians in the US indicate that clinical autonomy is the primary factor that determines career satisfaction, not income.
“Mild career dissatisfaction among physicians may not be particularly concerning,” lead author Dr. Bruce E. Landon, from Harvard Medical School in Boston, told Reuter Health. “However, if such dissatisfaction causes physicians to leave their practice or affects the care of patients then it can be quite important,” he added.
