Italy’s Pfizer affiliate is taking action against a large number of pharmacists who are accused of breaking patent laws by making customized versions of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, the company said on Thursday.
“An inquiry begun by Bolzano magistrates, which then spread throughout the country, revealed that several pharmacies were selling our product using pirated generic versions of Viagra’s active principle, sildenafil citrate,” Dr. Maria Pia Ruffilli, Pfizer Italia’s executive director of national health policies, told Reuters Health.
