Following hip fracture repair, patients with one or more active clinical issues at the time of discharge are at increased risk for death or readmission within the next 60 days, according to a report published in the Archives of Internal Medicine for January 13.
Dr. Ethan A. Halm, from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, and colleagues analyzed data on 559 patients who had sustained a hip fracture to determine the impact of discharge issues on post-hospital outcomes.
