Interferon-alpha and Ribavirin Combination Effective Against Hepatitis C-Related Systemic Vasculitis


Combination treatment with interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) and ribavirin results in a complete response in most patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related systemic vasculitis, according to a report in the December 2002 Arthritis & Rheumatism.


 This combination therapy has been shown previously to be more effective than IFN-alpha monotherapy against HCV infection without extrahepatic manifestations, the authors explain, but few data are available regarding the treatment of HCV-related systemic vasculitis.
