Elevated CRP Levels Tied to Reperfusion Failure in MI Patients


Measuring the C-reactive protein (CRP) level in patients admitted with ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction (MI) may be useful in predicting whether thrombolytic therapy will be successful, according to a recent report.

Furthermore, such levels appear to correlate with short- and long-term cardiac mortality, Dr. Michael Zairis and colleagues, from Tzanio Hospital in Piraeus, Greece, note in the November issue of the American Heart Journal.
