Treatment with formoterol provides long-lasting protection against exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) in asthmatic patients, according to a report in the October issue of the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
Dr. Edwin A. Bronsky, of Rocky Mountain Research Consultants, Salt Lake City, Utah, and colleagues conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, four-way, crossover study, in which they evaluated the protective effects of a single dose of formoterol in patients with EIB.
