Heart failure patients who undergo lower-limb training experience a decrease in dyspnea and an increase in exercise performance, researchers report in the November 6th issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
“Symptoms of heart failure, both dyspnea and fatigue, result from stimulation of receptors in the peripheral muscle,” Dr. Donna M. Mancini told Reuters Health. “Accordingly improving skeletal muscle function alleviates these symptoms,” she said.
