Incidence of missed intra-abdominal injuries is low in nonoperative management of hemodynamically stable blunt trauma in patients with liver or spleen injuries.
Missed injuries are more likely to occur with liver than spleen injuries as associated damage to the pancreas or bowel is more common with liver injuries, investigators explain.
However, they continue, because the overall incidence of missed injury is low, it should not affect a patients eligibility for nonoperative management
