Obesity and a prior history of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) significantly increase the risk of developing insulin resistance syndrome, according to a report in the July issue of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Betty R. Vohr, of Women and Infants’ Hospital, in Providence, Rhode Island, and colleagues examined the prevalence of, and risk factors for, insulin resistance syndrome in 106 women with a prior history of GDM and in 101 controls.
