NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 17 –
Growth hormone (GH) replacement is safe and effective in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with GH deficiency, according to a report in the July 1st issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
In a retrospective study, Dr. Wing Leung, of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, and colleagues examined the linear growth of 47 survivors of ALL who had received GH replacement therapy. In addition, they compared the risk of ALL relapse or second malignancy with subjects who did not receive GH therapy.
