Data from the Nurses’ Health Study point to a “strong” association between obesity and weight gain before diagnosis of diabetes and future risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) among women with type 2 diabetes.
Dr. Eunyoung Cho of the Harvard School of Public Health and colleagues evaluated the influence of obesity and weight gain on subsequent risk of CHD among 5897 women with type 2 diabetes who were free of heart disease at entry.
