NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 11 –

Breast cancer survivors, who are often at a higher risk of symptoms of menopause than other women because of chemotherapy, are more likely to use alternative therapies to treat such symptoms, according to the results of a population-based, case-control study.

 Dr. Patricia F. Harris from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and colleagues surveyed 110 breast cancer survivors, 18 to 69 years of age, and 73 randomly selected matched controls. These Wisconsin women were asked about menopausal symptoms and the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and other therapies to treat menopausal symptoms.
