Treatment with potassium citrate may prevent normal age-related bone loss, Dr. Charles Y. C. Pak and colleagues from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas report in The Journal of Urology for July
Spinal bone loss is a common complication in patients with idiopathic calcium oxalate ephrolithiasis, Dr. Pak’s group explains. They hypothesized that treatment with potassium citrate may stabilize bone density these patients.
