ORLANDO (Reuters Health) May 28 –
An experimental vaccine, administered as a vaginal suppository, may be safe and effective in warding off recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), based on study results presented here Saturday during the 100th annual meeting of the American Urological Association.
Dr. Johny E. Elkahwaji, with the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and colleagues, reported phase II data on the vaccine, a formulation containing ten different types of heat-killed uropathogenic bacteria.
