NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 22 –
Increased angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) activity is associated with an increased risk of macroangiopathy and death in patients with type 2 diabetes on chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, Chinese researchers report.
Dr. Philip Kam-Tao Li, from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and colleagues studied 49 type 2 diabetics who were receiving chronic ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.
The researchers measured ACE activity at baseline and over a median 34 months of follow-up, according to their report in the May issue of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases.
