NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 22 – The reported prevalence of renal disease in patients with type 2 diabetes other than diabetic nephropathy varies widely. Results of a study published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases for April suggest that different renal biopsy policies used by nephrology centers may be partly to blame.
Dr. Gianna Mazzucco, of the Universita del Piemonte Orientale in Novara, and colleagues studied a homogenous group of 393 type 2 diabetics in northwestern Italy who underwent renal biopsy for morphological definition of renal disease.
