NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 08 – Antioxidant vitamins may play a role in the pathogenesis of chronic renal failure, according to researchers in New Orleans.
"Several small clinical studies have reported that serum vitamin A levels were higher but serum vitamin C levels were lower among patients with end-stage renal disease," Dr. Jiang He and colleagues, from Tulane University, note. "However, the relationship of antioxidant vitamins to renal function has not been studied in the general population."
