NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Oct 07 –
Parametric statistical analysis of long-term survival shows that a significant portion of patients have recurrence of cutaneous melanoma more than 10 years after treatment, but the probability of cure increases with longer recurrence-free survival.
Dr. John W. Gamel from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Kentucky, and colleagues developed a parametric survival model based on data from 5342 patients who had been treated for cutaneous melanoma between 1978 and 1996 and followed for up to 22 years.
