NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 02 – The use of steroids during and immediately after facial plastic surgery procedures may reduce the amount of edema that occurs, according to study findings presented here Thursday at the 8th International Symposium of Facial Plastic Surgery.
Previous studies have yielded conflicting results regarding the benefits of steroids in this setting. While reducing postoperative edema could improve patient outcomes, steroid therapy has inherent risks.
