NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 26 – Gamma-delta T cell receptor-bearing dendritic epidermal T cells (DETCs) recognize antigens produced by surrounding injured cells, and in response, express growth factors and cytokines to effect wound repair, according to a report in the April 26th issue of Science.
Dr. Wendy L. Havran, of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, and associates, after wounding the skin of mice, noted a partial loss of dendritic shape of the DETCs within 2 days. After another 3 days, the dendritic morphology began to return.
