FREMONT, Calif. (Reuters) Mar 20 – Protein Design Labs Inc. on Wednesday said its psoriasis treatment failed to meet its main goal in trials.
The company said phase II tests of its Zenapax (daclizumab) treatment for patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis following treatment with cyclosporine did not prolong the time to recurrence of psoriasis, the main target of the trial.
Protein Design said it plans to end development of Zenapax as a treatment for psoriasis in conjunction with cyclosporine but could decide to pursue other development options for the drug.
"We do plan to continue to explore the use of daclizumab in other indications, and currently there are trials under way in asthma, multiple sclerosis, type I diabetes and uveitis," the company said.
