Chronic infection with Chlamydia pneumonia appears to increase the risk of myocardial injury in patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndromes, according to Canadian and US investigators.
Dr. Paul W. Armstrong of the University of Alberta, Edmonton, and colleagues note that there is evidence of an association between C. pneumoniae infection and future coronary events in those with stable artery disease.
