Bedtime administration of low-dose controlled-onset extended-release (COER)-verapamil leads to significantly greater early morning hemodynamic effects than either enalapril or losartan administered in the morning, according to a report in the October issue of the American Heart Journal.
“Therapeutic agents for the treatment of hypertension may differ in their efficacy during the early-morning period, a time when both morbid and mortal cardiovascular events are increased compared with other times of the day,” Dr. William B. White, of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Farmington, and colleagues note.
