Patients being treated for primary major depression and those in remission have significantly impaired arterial endothelial function compared with healthy controls, which may be a contributory factor to the increased risk of coronary heart disease associated with depression.
“We have shown that people who have got over their bad bout of depression nevertheless still exhibit endothelial dysfunction,” Dr. Andrew Broadley told Reuters Health.
