Prevalence of High Blood Pressure Increasing Among US Adults

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 30 – From 1991 to 1999, the prevalence of high blood pressure among US adults increased by 2 percentage points, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

National survey results show that, throughout the 1990s, about 95% of adults had recently undergone blood pressure screening. And nearly all respondents said they had had their blood pressure checked at some time, the CDC reports in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report for May 31st.
