If data from Philadelphia are representative, the incidence of type 1 diabetes may be climbing sharply in African Americans, especially children, according to a report in the November issue of Diabetes Care.
Dr. Terri H. Lipman, of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and colleagues note that the diabetes registry in their city “is unique in that it includes data from large populations of white, African-American and Hispanic children.”
