An oral vaccine developed by GlaxoSmithKline is effective in preventing severe diarrhea related to rotavirus infection in children, according to new study results presented Friday at the 3rd World Congress of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Guillermo Ruiz-Palacios of the National Institute of Nutrition in Mexico City, coordinated a study of the vaccine, called RIX 4414, being conducted in Mexico, Brazil and Venezuela.
