Treatment does reduce mortality in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), according to the results of a large retrospective study of 1,685 COPD patients that who were treated with inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), salmeterol, or a combination of ICS and salmeterol.
The findings were presented here at CHEST 2002, the 68th annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians.
