Despite widespread vaccination, there appears to be a high incidence of Bordetella pertussis infection in adults seeking treatment for persistent cough, French researchers report in the August 1st issue of The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Nicole Guiso of the Institut Pasteur, Paris, and colleagues note that pertussis vaccination was introduced in 1959 in France and there has been a high degree of coverage for more than 30 years.
