NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 22 – A history of mild chronic kidney disease (CKD), defined as a serum creatinine level of >1.5 mg/dL, is an independent risk factor for death and other adverse events following coronary revascularization, researchers report.
The findings indicate that "even mild renal insufficiency, in the setting of coronary artery disease, imposes a tremendous amount of risk," lead author Dr. Lynda A. Szczech, from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, told Reuters Health. "I don't think many people realized that before."
