NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Mar 25 – Reduction of elastic recoil in the lungs may be responsible for much of the diminished maximum expiratory airflow (Vmax) experienced by certain asthmatics, researchers report in the March issue of Chest.
In fact, lead investigator Dr. Arthur F. Gelb told Reuters Health that "the loss of lung elastic recoil challenges the prevailing concepts that asthma is an airway disease."
