Patients with heart failure achieve better aerobic tolerance after 12 weeks on low-dose lisinopril than on a higher dose of the ACE inhibitor, according to the findings of a small, double-blind trial reported by British researchers.
Dr. G. A. Cooke and colleagues at Leeds General Infirmary randomized 12 patients with symptomatic heart failure to either 5 mg lisinopril a day or 20 mg a day. After 12 weeks of therapy, the patients crossed over to the opposite treatment arm for another 12 weeks.
