The use of protease inhibitors (PI) does not appear to increase the short-term risk of hospitalization for coronary heart disease (CHD) or myocardial infarction (MI) in HIV-positive men, according to a report by California researchers.
There is a concern PI use may increase the risk of CHD and MI, Dr. Daniel Klein, of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Hayward, and colleagues note in the August 15th issue of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes.
