Heart failure among elderly individuals with preserved systolic function is largely a phenomenon affecting women, according to a report in the January 15th Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Earlier studies have suggested an association between both advancing age and female gender and heart failure with preserved left ventricular systolic function (LVSF), the authors explain, but whether gender and this condition are independently associated has been unclear.
