Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNAB) of pancreatic lesions appears to be an effective means of gathering cells for diagnosis, researchers report in the December 25th issue of Cancer Cytopathology.
Dr. Lourdes R. Ylagan and colleagues at Washington University Medical School, St. Louis, note that EUS-FNAB is widely accepted in evaluation of small pancreatic lesions undetectable by computed tomography. However, they say, “the technique is not without difficulty.”
