Cetirizine Very Effective In Relieving Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis Symptoms

Cetirizine relieves symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, improves health related quality of life, enhances productivity and reduces the level of impaired activities.

 Researchers from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, United States, enrolled into their double blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study 865 adults with seasonal allergic rhinitis. Patients received cetirizine or placebo for two weeks.

 Compared to placebo, cetirizine improved overall scores on the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) as well as on the individual domains: activities, sleep, non-nose or eye symptoms, practical problems, nasal symptoms, eye symptoms and emotional.
