The risk of myocardial infarction (MI) is reduced among men who drink beer, wine or liquor at least three to four times per week, a new study in the January 9th issue of The New England Journal of Medicine suggests.
However, in an interview with Reuters Health, NEJM editorialist Dr. Ira J. Goldberg cautioned that “only data from randomized clinical trials should be used” in patient management. Dr. Goldberg is on the faculty of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.
