Most children treated in the emergency department for a mild to moderate asthma attack continue to use metered dose inhalers with a spacer (MDIS) in the following week. The finding comes from an Australian study published in the October issue of the Archives of Diseases in Childhood.
In a prospective observational study, Dr. Gary J. Browne and colleagues from the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, in Sydney, examined MDIS usage in 73 consecutive patients discharged from the emergency department after a mild to moderate asthma attack.
