For patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) and bradycardias, dual-site right atrial pacing is safe and better tolerated than overdrive high right atrial or support pacing, researchers report.
“We have shown for the first time that a pacing technique can be useful in the treatment of AF when combined with antiarrhythmic drugs,” lead researcher Dr. Sanjeev Saksena told Reuters Health. “This finding should resolve a lot of the controversy in the field where some have thought that pacing is useful and some have thought that it is not,” he added.
