Using one-plate or two-plate fixation constructs appears to provide similar healing rates for open reduction and internal fixation of nonunion of the humerus.
That is the opinion of I. F. Rubel and colleagues at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University’s Hospital for Special Surgery, in New York City, United States, who reviewed the outcomes of 37 consecutive patients in whom a nonunion of the midpart of the humeral shaft had been treated with plate fixation.
