Certain histologic subtypes of nonmelanoma skin cancers in specific locations are associated with a high risk of extensive subclinical spread, physicians report in the Archives of Dermatology for August.
Drs. R. Sonia Batra, of the Stanford University School of Medicine in California, and Larisa C. Kelley, of Harvard Medical School in Boston, analyzed charts of 1131 patients who underwent Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) between 1996 and 1999. A logistic model was developed based on data from 1095 patients with nonmelanoma skin tumors
