NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 03 –
Compared with conventional coronary artery revascularization, off-pump coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery in high-risk patients is safe, effective and significantly reduces morbidity, UK researchers report.
Dr. Gianni D. Angelini from University of Bristol, and colleagues collected data on 1570 consecutive high-risk patients. Among these patients 332 (21.1%) underwent off-pump CABG, according to the report in the June issue of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. The other 1238 (78.9%) patients underwent conventional on-pump CABG.
