NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 03 –
Stent overexpansion reduces the risk of in-stent restenosis after 6 months in vessels at least 3 mm in diameter, investigators report in The American Journal of Cardiology for June 1.
Dr. Yoshio Kobayashi, of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in New York, and lleagues implanted Medtronic GFX stents (Santa Rosa, California) into 30 lesions of 28 patients. The stented vessels were at least 3.0 mm in diameter. The maximal balloon size averaged 3.4 mm, with a mean balloon-to-artery ratio of 1.08. The average maximum balloon pressure was 14.5 atm.
