FLORENCE, Italy (Reuters Health) Jun 10 –
Athletes might soon be asked to produce “hematologic passports” before they compete to ensure they have not been using drugs, such as EPO, according to a proposal made at the 7th Congress of the European Haematology Association here on Saturday.
The suggestion is part of a project initiated by Science and Industry Against Blood Doping (SIAB) and funded by the World Antidoping Agency. The project aims to define a common strategy to detect blood doping and includes researchers from Australia, China, France, Italy, Norway and the US.
