NEW YORK (Reuters Health) May 27 –
The results of three studies indicate that the use of the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) naproxen reduces the risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), compared with no NSAID use or use of other NSAIDs.
While aspirin use is known to reduce the risk of AMI, it was unclear whether other NSAIDs would have a similar effect. In the new studies, reported in the May 27th issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, researchers compared the cardioprotective effects of several NSAIDs.
