NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Apr 23 – Asthmatic children who use meters to monitor peak expiratory flow (PEF) appear to do better than those who rely on symptoms alone to guide management, according to New York researchers.
Dr. H. Lorrie Yoos of the University of Rochester, told Reuters Health that in pediatric asthma, "medical therapy is based on an assessment of the severity of the symptoms as communicated to the healthcare provider by the family. This makes good communication about symptoms between the healthcare provider and the family particularly important."
