Treatment with statin drugs slows the progression of aortic stenosis (AS) independently of the medications’ cholesterol-lowering effects, according to a report in the November 20th Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Previous studies seeking a link between AS and hyperlipidemia have yielded conflicting results.
