Occupation Tied to Risk of Hand and Wrist Arthritis

Certain jobs appear to increase a person’s risk of developing arthritis of the hand and wrist, according to researchers at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

While many studies have investigated the connection between occupation and so-called “soft tissue” hand/wrist disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, few have looked at the relationship between work exposures and arthritis of the wrist and hand, the researchers point out.
