Endoscopic Thrombin Therapy Safe And Effective For Bleeding Gastric Varices

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 31 –

Findings from a small case series suggest that endoscopic injection of human thrombin is a safe and effective treatment for bleeding gastric varices.

Several therapies have been proposed for bleeding gastric varices, but none have emerged as the clear treatment of choice. However, findings from two recent studies suggest that bovine thrombin injection is an effective treatment for the condition.
